    2. MULLINS — Mr. Hershel Alden Eaker, 68, husband of Annie Warlick Eaker, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence after an illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Mullins First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mr. Eaker was born June 3, 1937, in Cleveland County, N.C., a son of the late Alden and Selvia Lingerfelt Eaker. He was a retired banker, having retired from Anderson Brothers Bank in Mullins. Mr. Eaker had also been associated with Wachovia Bank, S.C. National Bank and Marion National Bank. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Mullins Rotary Club, the Mullins Chamber of Commerce, the Mullins Lions Club and the Marion County Arts Council. Mr. Eaker was a past member and chairman of the Mullins School District 2 Board of Trustees. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Little Pee Dee Manor and worked extensively with the Anderson Theater Project. He was a past chairman of the Foster Child Association. Mr. Eaker was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. Surviving Mr. Eaker in addition to his wife of the home are his children, Wanda Mallett of Biloxi, Miss., Kim Eaker Young of Mullins, Joseph Kelvin Eaker of Mullins, Chad Eaker of Latta, Jason Eaker of Nichols and Jonathan Eaker of Nichols; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Hugh Eaker of Lawndale, N.C.; and a sister, Rachel Posey of Greenville. Memorials may be made to Mullins First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 443, Mullins, SC 29574 or to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW Ninth Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
