MARION — Mr. James Edward Owens, Sr., 72, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, at Marion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, February 22, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Owens was born in Mullins, a son of the late Carl F. Owens and Elizabeth Church Owens. He was retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company after 38 years of service. Mr. Owens also served as a LUTC I and II instructor for Life of Georgia. He was a graduate of Marion High School and a member of Marion Baptist Church. Mr. Owens was also a member of the Conway Masonic Lodge. Mr. Owens is survived by his wife, Patricia Deaver Owens of the home; two sons, James Jimmy Edwards Owens, Jr. (Gina) of Florence, Robert Dwayne Owens of Kingstree; a daughter, Cynthia Cindy Owens Ledbetter (Terry) of Marion; a sister Jean Owens Godbold (Wade) of Centenary; three grandchildren, John Rowe III (Tara), T.J. Ledbetter (Alisha), and Christopher Owens; and two great-grandchildren, Bladen Rowe and Kody Ledbetter. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
