MULLINS — Mrs. Mary Frances Morris Owens, daughter of the late Mr. John and Mrs. Grizella Crosland Morris was born and reared in Marion County. She departed this life in the McLeod Hospital System, Florence. Mrs. Owens attended the public schools of Marion County, graduating from Palmetto High School, class of 1946. She continued her education at Morris College in Sumter, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree and completed further studies at Hampton Institute in Hampton, Va., Francis Marion University and William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Va. She was married to the late Fred Douglas Owens Jr. Mrs. Owens was a public school educator for 40 years. She was a member of Friends and Alumni of Palmetto High School, Council on Aging Board of Directors, Mu Kappa Zeta Chapter, Palmetto Tent No. 1, Palmetto Chapter No. 262, OES. The family will receive friends at the Troy Funeral Home, Front Street, Mullins, this evening at 6. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Ebenezer AME Church, North Smith Street, Mullins, with burial in Devotion Garden.
