Col. Maxcy Gregg was authorized to raise a regiment of 6 month volunteers. The Marion men served under a Captain Stanley in Charleston until after the fall of Ft. Sumter. I began work on this just last night and have not had time to delve in to regimental histories yet. I had looked at the names you list on that website but I have no way to connect any of them to the author of the letter without seeing the actual service record. I was hoping to identify him through some of the relatives he mentions in his letter. I have located several of them thru census records but have not connected the dots.
