CONWAY | Rita Shelley Timbes, age 55, devoted wife and mother, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 at her residence surrounded by her husband and family. Rita was born Feb. 22, 1950 in Mullins, a daughter of Agnes Strickland Shelley and the late Dwight Shelley. She grew up in the Pleasant View community of Horry County and graduated from Floyd's High School. Upon graduation from Floyd's, Rita served our country for four years in the United States Air Force. Upon her return to Myrtle Beach, she graduated with a major in business and minor in accounting from the University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina campus. She served as vice president and comptroller for Timbes Architectural Group until April of 2005. Rita was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother of Pleasant View, are her husband, Larry Ceils Timbes of Conway; her son, Matthew Edward Timbes of Conway; two stepsons, Mark Leonard Timbes and his wife, Clay, of Columbia, and Michael Arthur Timbes of Charleston; four sisters, Annette Powell and her husband, Richard of Jamestown, N.C., Sandra Craig and her husband, Howard, of Holly Springs, N.C., Sue Neal of Myrtle Beach, and Lynn Floyd of Nichols; one brother, Danny Shelley of Lugoff; two step-grandchildren, Kate Timbes and Anna Timbes, both of Columbia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Conway with the Rev. Jeff Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
