RAINS — Mr. Earl Ray Rogers, Sr., 79, widower of Elsie Williamson Rogers and formerly of Mullins, died Friday, February 24, 2006, in Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Ailshie officiating. Burial will follow in Green Sea Cemetery. Mr. Rogers was born March 7, 1926, in the Zion Community of Marion County, a son of the late Howard and Meta Harper Rogers. He retired as an inspector for TruTec. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Rogers was a member of Christian Faith Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Rogers are: two sons, Earl Ray Rogers, Jr. of Conway and Anthony Lee “Tony” Rogers of Dillon; a stepson, Richard Harrelson of Mullins; a stepdaughter, Frances Gerald of Marion; a brother, Jerry Rogers of Greenville; and several grandchildren. Mr. Rogers was predeceased by a brother, Harry Rogers and a stepson, Earl Harrelson. Memorials may be made to Christian Faith Baptist Church, P.O. Box 406, Mullins, SC 29574. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6 til 8 p.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
