Greetings all, and for this post, especially PACE descendants-- As you may know, most all Pace's that trace their roots to old upper Marion county/today's Dillon county and surrounding Pee Dee area hail from George Pace who came to Marion/Dillon area before 1810. However, the trail went cold with George and little was seen that linked him to other Paces. Recent evidence has come to light as to the George Pace line (VA>NC>SC) and his ancestors all the way to Jamestown (1607 time-frame). It would be interesting to hear from Marion/Dillon Pace cousins and any research they might have uncovered? Additionally, there is a Pace DNA project that can allow a representative of the George Pace line to compare and map our specific line to others and the original Paces in Colonies/USA and back. This kind of tool can be key especially as little paper evidence exists. Has any male Pace from Pee Dee area looked into this? I can't do it because my gr-grandmother was a Pace, born to William James Pace of Dillon, and it only works for paternal male line. I would be happy to help facilitate (and even fund) this simple process as a DNA sample from a male Pace that is from Marion/Dillon area would be invaluable in piecing this branch together with main Pace line. Thanks, David
We have a unique and interesting Pace lineage. My husband is a Pace, his father hails from Sumter, his Grandfather (Jimmie Edward) left home in his teens and had no contact with his birth family. I know of one brother (Abijah a.k.a. Byger) Bother listed their mother's name on their SS application as Julia. Jimmie stated that his father was unknown and that he used his mother's name, and Byger listed his father's name as Henry. (Family suspects that this was Henry Tanner) I have found a possible Julia Pace in the 1880 Cencus. If I am correct her mother's name was Susan and she had a half brother named Jackson. But this hasn't been proven. I'm curious to hear if there is any other Pace research going on in the Marion area. Patti Pace --------------------------------- Yahoo!
