I happen to be trying to find other folks in the Hunt surname for genetic genealogy specifically Y-DNA which is paternal line only. I had thought recently I would find a distanct cousin in Union County who believes they themselve descend from Christopher and Catherine Hunt who came to Cheraws in late 1700s. Unfortunately we do not match and currently do not know who line either of us are from. I would still agree that they could possibly still be from Christopher as I am not 100% on my end at this time. Reason still trying to find paper and genetic matches. Their line is Samuel D. Hunt b 1790 in Union County, SC they believe he is the son of William Hunt who is son of Christopher Hunt. It sure is really difficult to do any paper hunting from California. One note is so far there is not Y-DNA paternal line documented publicly of American Indian marker result. This does not mean you are not American Indian as it could be on the maternal line. Person of my interest where listed as Mulatto and was owner of land which is not in Marlboro County or Darlington. But all the records from 1800 are in Marion District or Marlboro County. Another question is regarding Liberty County which county inherited document from this county when it cease to exist?
