    1. Re: [SCMARION-L] Book Sources on the Pee Dee area
    2. I am the 5th great granddaughter of JOSEPH BURCH, SR. and MARY ANN FISHER. Family legend has it that JOSEPH BURCH, SR. and MARY ANN FISHER were born in St. Phillips Parish, Charleston, SC about 1740 - unproven. JOSEPH, SR. and MARY ANN were married 11 May 1762 in St. Phillips Parish, Charleston, SC - proven. JOSEPH, SR. died before Jul 1801 in Marion District, SC - unproven. MARY Ann Fisher died 05 Jul 1813 - unproven. Burial places unknown. JOSEPH, SR. owned Burch Ferry and Burch Mill on the Great PeeDee River and was a large land owner. A Revolutionary War treaty was signed at Burch's Mill; General Marion was in attendance. According to JOSEPH, SR.'s will, he and MARY ANN FISHER had four children: (1) EDWARD (NED) b. 1771-unproven - m. MARY ANN (POLLY) WILSON 02 May 1797-proven - no DOD - no burial place. (2) JOSEPH, JR. b. 24 Apr 1775-proven - m. ELIZABETH THOMAS 27 Apr 1797-proven - d. 12 Mar 1818-proven - burial place Old Burch Cemetery, Mt. Croghan, Chesterfield, SC-proven. (3) JOHN BURCH b. 30 May 1776-proven - m. ELIZABETH WRIGHT before 06 Oct 1806-unproven - d. 08 Jun 1837-Lucas Hill Cemetery, Montgomery, AL-proven. (4) MARY BURCH b. about 1778-unproven - m. JAMES NETTLES-no date - d. 19 Apr 1802-unproven - no burial place. I live in Oklahoma, so my main source of research is the internet, as well as information from four distant cousins I have met online. I have purchased several publications, all of which contain a sentence or two about a Burch or two. If someone could please check the indexes of whatever of these books they might own and let me know which contain anything of value regarding any of the above Burches, I would be ever so grateful. I would love to purchase any of these publications that contain more than a word or two regarding my Burches. To date they are a pretty elusive bunch. Thank you so much! Interesting thing he had nothing to do with Hunt surname and yet he dealt in land all around the area of interest to me. He dealt in land in Cheraw District, Liberty County, Marlborough District and Marion District. I am very impress.
