ORANGEBURG — Nancy Lynn Smith Waters, 83, died Friday morning July 17, 2009 at The Oaks. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 in the Amos Chapel at The Oaks. Mrs. Waters was born in Mullins, a daughter of the late Rev. Fleming Carlisle and Nancy Harrelson Smith. She was a graduate of Summerton High School and majored in vocal performance at Columbia College. Mrs. Waters served many communities in South Carolina as a United Methodist pastor’s wife. She was predeceased by a brother Stephen Carlisle Smith and stepson Thomas Cutler Waters and was the widow of Rev. Wilbert Tyndall Waters. Survivors: daughters, Connie Cato McLeod of Camden, Debra Wilkinson (John) of Summerville, Susan Cato-Lockhart (Seth) of Rochester, NY; son, Randall Davis Heisley-Cato (Rev. Deborah) of Harrisburg, PA; stepson, Wilbert T. Waters Jr. (Betsy) of Charleston; sister, Sidney Smith Pettyjohn (Rev. Walker) of Lake Junaluska, NC; daughter-in-law, Frances Waters of Summerville; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
