    2. LEXINGTON | Larry K. Davis, 54, of Lexington, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 after an extended illness. It was a long and courageous journey. Larry was born November 7, 1954 in Marion, South Carolina, and grew up in Myrtle Beach, graduating from Myrtle Beach High School. Larry played baseball at Newberry College and also Coastal Carolina University, where he graduated with a degree in business. Larry had a distinguished career as an accounts manager for Clean Harbors Environmental Services for 28 years, and traveled extensively. He was a faithful member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church for 21 years, where he served as Sunday School teacher and in other leadership roles. Larry was deeply devoted to his family, and lived life as fully as his health would allow. After his diagnosis with cancer Larry inspired others with his incredible faith, discipline, and determination to continue working and enjoying life as much as possible. He became an active volunteer with Relay for Life along with his family. ''LD'' was an avid sports fan, especially cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks and the Atlanta Braves. He loved music, his lifelong friends, the beach, and celebrating the many achievements of his wife and daughters. Larry's sense of humor and generosity endeared him to everyone he met. Larry is survived by his wife, Cathy, and their two daughters, Shelley and Holley; his mother, Margaret S. Davis of Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Dr. Ron (Martha) Davis of Kingsport, Tenn., and Dr. Glenn (Patti) Davis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Ellen Davis of Myrtle Beach; three nieces; one nephew; and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Davis. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo. Officiating ministers include Dr. Ed Carney and the Rev. Tim Phillips. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery, 2408 S. Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach.
