MULLINS - Mrs. Martha Gold Collins Dozier, 89, widow of Edgar Preston Tarver Dozier, Sr., died Monday, January 19, 2009, in Conway Manor in Conway after an illness. She was born October 27, 1919, in Mullins, a daughter of the late Neil Carmichael Collins and the late Ruth Smith Collins. Mrs. Dozier was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church, where she was Sunday School pianist for the Adult Department Number 4 for 66 years. She was active in the Missionary Society, having served in all phases through the years. She was a charter member of the Tussie Mussie Garden Club and a charter member of the Choral Club. Mrs. Dozier was a member of the Isabelle D. Martin Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Surviving Mrs. Dozier are a son, Edgar P.T. Dozier, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Mullins; a son-in-law, Jim Ellis of Hilton Head Island; 2 grandsons, Trey Dozier and James Ellis; a sister-in-law, Magnolia B. Collins of Mullins; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dozier was predeceased by a daughter, Margold Dozier Ellis; 2 sisters, Cornelia C.R. Shelley and Jean C. Brown; and 3 brothers, Neil C. Collins, Jr., Kenneth H. Collins and Robert H. “Bobby” Collins. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21 at Mullins First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedardale Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
