MARION — Leslie Wilds Clemmons, Jr., died at home on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. The funeral service will be at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Marion at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, January 24, at his home, 2574 Lanneau Snipes Road in Marion, at 2:00 PM. Wilds was born on February 17, 1949. He grew up and attended school in Marion and Carolina Military Academy. Following his graduation from high school, he joined the US Navy and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following the war he established two businesses for salvaging, restoring and reuse of wood from demolished historic homes and buildings. He enjoyed living in the country where he could hunt and fish often. His many friends will miss the game and fish he shared with them. Wilds was known and will be remembered for his generosity. Wilds was the son of the late Leslie Wilds (Bubba) Clemmons and is survived by his mother, Isabelle (Wuzzie) Clemmons of Marion. He is also survived by his wife, Becky; one son, Leslie Wilds and his wife Barbara of Conway; step-son, Cecil Bryant of Marion; step-daughters, Lisa Brewer and her husband, Lee of Mullins, Ashley Futrell and her husband, Stephen of Hartsville; three grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, and Leslie Wilds Clemmons IV; step-grandchildren, Jasmine and Amber Moore, Jordan Bryant, Zane Butler, and Austin Futrell; a sister, Isabelle Linder and husband Bill of Edisto Beach; and a brother, James Roger Clemmons of New York; and special little buddies, Garrett Gasque and Hunter Parks.
