MARION — Carl Henderson VonCanon, 83, died Thursday, January 29, 2009, at Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Marion. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. VonCanon was born in Jonesboro Township, NC, a son of the late Carl Henderson VonCanon and Abbie McBryde VonCanon. He was a veteran of WWII and member of First United Methodist Church. Carl received a B.S. degree from North Carolina State University and later worked for Blumenthal Mills and Cheney Brothers as plant manager. Surviving are his wife, Scarlett Parks VonCanon of the home; sons David VonCanon of Raleigh, NC, and Quint VonCanon of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Amy VonCanon of Denver, CO; sisters, Lily Beth Golston and Maude Mann; and three grandchildren.
