MULLINS — Mrs. Ernest Hope King Corley, widow of James S. Corley, Jr., died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at home surrounded by her family. She was born June 11, 1916 in Nash, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Holliday King and Hope Howard King. Mrs. Corley graduated from Columbia College in 1937. She was an organizing member of the Drowning Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a gourmet cook and an avid bridge player. Mrs. Corley was a founding member and last survivor of the Golden Girls Bridge Club. She was the quintessential soccer mom. Mrs. Corley was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mullins. Surviving are: her Daughter, Judith Dixon Underwood of Mullins; 2 Sons, James Self Corley, III and his wife Tina of Greenwood and Robert Howard Corley and his wife Mary Ann of Mullins; a Grandson, Michael Tredway Collins and his wife Tracey of Bluefield, W. Va.; 2 Step-Granddaughters, Christina Barger and Laura Barger, both of Greenwood; a Great Grandson, Joshua Michael Collins of Belleview, Fla.; 2 Step-Great Grandsons, Trey and Thad Thomas, both of Myrtle Beach; 2 Great Great Granddaughters, Aurora and Velouria Collins; and Leslie D. Warwick, who was considered a special niece. Mrs. Corley was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Howard King and a sister, Mary King. A graveside celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 3 at Cedardale Cemetery, with the Rev. James A. Kirkland, Jr., Dr. Lewis E. McCormick and the Rev. Kem Thomas officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Childrens Home, P.O.
