NORTH MYRTLE BEACH | Donald Randolph Smith Sr., 72 died Monday, May 15, 2006 at his home. He was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Nichols, S.C., a son of the late George Owen and Lavinia Brown Smith. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, G.O. Smith Jr., Edward Smith and Douglas Smith. He and his brother (Dan) were the owners and operators of the Windy Hill Hardware for over thirty five years. He was a member and former deacon of the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, and an active member of the North Myrtle Beach Lions Club. Don was recently inducted into the S.C. Lion's Club Hall of Fame. He graduated from Wampee High School and attended North Greenville Junior College. Survivors include his wife, Gayle Y. Smith; his children, Donald R. Smith Jr., and wife, Katrena, of Little River, and Elizabeth S. Humphreys and husband, Jac, of North Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Thomas William Smith of Charleston, and his twin, Daniel R. Smith of North Myrtle Beach; a sister, Miriam S. Arledge of North Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren, Courtney and Jackson Smith; father-in-law, A.C. Thomas Jr., and sister-in-law, Anne T. Drake, all of North Myrtle Beach. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach with Dr. John Gambrell and the Rev. Mike Vipperman officiating. Burial will follow in Southeastern Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.
