GREEN SEA | Mrs. Sarah Alford Jernigan, 94, of the Mt. Olive community died Wednesday afternoon, May 17, 2006 at her home following a sudden illness. Born Feb. 14, 1912 in Marion, Mrs. Jernigan was the widow of the late Sam D. Jernigan and the daughter of the late Dock Alford and the late Lola Jackson Alford. Mrs. Jernigan was a homemaker and a supervisor with BVD Mfg. in Marion for 23 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Waccamaw Chapter # 89 in Conway and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Jack B. Jernigan of Roanoke, Va.; one daughter, Mildred Jernigan Hughes of Aynor; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2006 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel, with burial following at the Jernigan Family Cemetery. Officiating will be the Reverend J. Ricky Hardee.
