MULLINS | Major Paul Fowler, 89, of Columbia and formerly of Mullins, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006. Mr. Fowler attended the University of South Carolina. A U.S. Army World War II veteran, he served with the 165th Combat Engineer Battalion. He was a retired farmer and businessman. Surviving are his devoted wife of 65 years, Doris Rowland Fowler of Columbia; a son, Stephen R. Fowler and his wife, Marian, of Lexington; a daughter, Jacqueline F. Sullivan Hillesland and her husband, Dennis, of Augusta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Stephen Fowler and his wife, Ashley, of Irmo, Laura E. Fowler of Columbia, Timothy Sullivan III and his wife, Melissa, of Spartanburg, and John Paul Sullivan and his wife, Allison, of Greenville; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John William Fowler of Mullins and Fred R. Fowler and his wife, Ann, also of Mullins. Mr. Fowler was predeceased by his parents, John W. Fowler and Mittie Pender Fowler; three sisters, Louise F. Parrott, Grace Fowler and Joyce Fowler; and two brothers, Dan Franklin Fowler and Joseph Clarence ''J.C.'' Fowler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Mullins Firat Baptist Church, 316 N. Main Street, with the Rev. Dr. Lewis E. McCormick and the Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in Cedardale Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday evening, May 8, 2006 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home, 715 S.
