Mary Esther Israel Hiers, 84, of 229 Riverland Drive, Charleston, died Thursday, August 3, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be held three o'clock Sunday, August 6, 2006, in The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Ehrhardt-Bamberg Chapel. Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery. Mrs. Hiers was born March 13, 1923, in Mullins, SC and was the daughter of the late Frank and Cornie Willoughby Israel. She attended James Island Baptist Church. Her favorite pastimes were traveling, playing BINGO, and doing crafts. She will always be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are: her husband, J. Murray Hiers of Charleston; children, Randall McCormick of Byron, GA and Shirley Sealey of Santee; step-children, Roger Hiers of Stone Mountain, GA, Danny Hiers, of Charleston, and Debbie Bogle of Tupelo, MS; brothers, Lonzo Israel of Mullins and J.E. Israel of Charleston; half-brothers, Darrell Israel of Dacula, GA and Bud Israel of Shady Springs, WV; half-sisters, Jeanette Cannon of Georgetown, Edith Worrels of Dunbar, WV, and Esther Akers of Daniels, WV; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
