MULLINS | Mattie E. Smith, 75, of Lee Circle died Friday, August 25, 2006 at her home. Born Jan. 12, 1931 in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late Richard A. and Theodocia Cook Dawsey. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, a full time mother and grandmother. She also was office manager for Universal Designers, Inc. in Murrells Inlet. Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Smith in 1974. Surviving are sons and their wives, Thomas T. and Erin Smith of Myrtle Beach, Jeffrey D. and Donna Smith and James Donald Jr. and Michelle Smith, all of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Stephen, Shane, Scott, Daniel, Emily, Heather, Kyndell, Kasey and Christina; and three great-grandchildren, Lucas, Ainsley and Cole. She is also survived by a very special granddaughter, Brittany, who was her caregiver during her final days. Visitation was held Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
