MARION — Mr. Jessie Carroll Lane, 87, died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3, at Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Old Ebenezer Cemetery, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. The family received friends, Monday, June 2, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Lane was born in Marion, a son of the late Stephen Carroll Lane and Jenny Perritt Lane. He was a member of Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church, Temperance Hill Fire Department, and Floydale Masonic Lodge. Mr. Lane was in the farming business where he worked for the Department of Animal and Plant Inspection for the USDA. He was also a veteran of the US Navy, having served in WWII. Surviving are his wife, Frances M. Lane of the home; daughters, Linda Fowler Morrison and her husband, Sherrill of Marion, Dale Foxworth and her husband, Ted, of Marion; brother, Maurice Lane and his wife, Eloise of Latta; sisters, Geraldine Brigman of Marion and Mavis Stone of Maxton, NC; two grandchildren, Dana Fowler Shutt, and and her husband, Charles, Shanna F. Martin, and her husband, Brad; as well as one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church Building Fund, 1048 Dudley Road, Marion, SC 29571.
