NICHOLS | Austin David Strickland Sr., 86, died Friday, June 13, 2008 in Loris Healthcare. Mr. Strickland was born in Horry County, South Carolina, the son of the late William David Strickland and Susan Williamson Strickland. He was a Mason in Loris Masonic Lodge No. 205, Ancient Free Masons, and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having received a Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Lillie G. Strickland of Nichols; five sons, David Strickland of Savannah, Ga., Robert "Bob" Strickland of Tabor City, N.C., William Shelley and Roger Shelley, both of Florence, and Thomas Shelley of Aynor; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Shelley. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008 in the Inman Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Phil Fischbach. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City, N.C., with Military and Masonic rites. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008 in the funeral home.
