Jeffrey, thanks for your response in re: the location of Pleasant Lake on the Pedee. You have just made a lady in Houston very happy. She has been trying for a long time to place this grant of James Abercromby in hopes that it sheds some light on her Abercrombys of Anson Co., N.C. This particular James Abercromby was baptised in Clackmanshire, Scotland in 1708, came to S.C. as a young man, became S.C. Attorney General and received numerous land grants on the Pedee and Waccamaw. He went back to Scotland and died there in 1775 at his Brucefield Estate.
