    3. Aug 10, 2001 L. Lavern Floyd MULLINS -- Mr. L. Lavern Floyd, 69, husband of Peggy Dimmery Floyd, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001 at Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glenn Brown officiating. Entombment will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mr. Floyd was born July 20, 1932 in Marion County, a son of the late James Monroe Floyd and the late Bessie Dozier Floyd. Mr. Floyd was a retired furniture maker. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post No. 89. Mr. Floyd was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, where he was one of the original charter members. Surviving Mr. Floyd in addition to his wife of the home are his children, Denise Graham, Kenneth Lavern Floyd and Marcy Day and her husband, Ricky, all of Mullins; four granddaughters, Alicia Graham, Trisha Day, Jessica Day and Erica Day; and two sisters, Eva Mae Richardson of Mullins and Dorothy Cordray of Charleston.
