CONWAY Cleveland L. Fladger Sr. Cleveland L. Fladger Sr., 75, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Conway Hospital after an illness. He was born July 14, 1926, in Marion, a son of the late Samuel and Ora Bethea Fladger. He attended Marion County schools and was a graduate of Allen University. He also attended S.C. State College, Marshall University and Trinity College. He was a retired teacher and coach. He had played professional basketball with the Philadelphia Warriors. He served on the Conway City Council for 12 years. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of the Elks, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and Bethel AME Church, where he served on the steward board and was treasurer for many years. Survivors include his wife, Damoris Hemingway Fladger; two daughters, Myra Jean Royal and Kimberly Denise Fladger, both of Conway; two sons, Cleveland L. Fladger Jr. of Conway and the Rev. Erich Von Fladger of Georgetown; a sister-in-law, Clarice E. Hemingway; a brother-in-law, Clarence E. Hemingway Jr.; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight at Bethel AME Church. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Hemingway Cemetery.
