The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. John Lanneau McMillan Jr. died Saturday, August 11, 2001 in McLeod Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born January 15, 1942 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the Honorable John Lanneau McMillan Sr. and Margaret English McMillan. He attended St. Albans in Washington, D.C., graduated form McClenaghan High School and the University of South Carolina with a Business Administration Degree. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. His greatest pleasure in life came from doing his Lords work. Surviving are wife, Gayle Shealy McMillan; sons, John L. McMillan III (Susan) of Raleigh, N.C.; Robert Manning McMillan (Arlene), Michael Benjamin McMillan (Allison), both of Lexington; grandchildren, Daniel Jacob McMillan, Sara Catherine McMillan, both of Raleigh; Elizabeth Ashley McMillan, Alexandria English McMillan, both of Lexington.
