Hi Deryl, Pleasant Lake is now known as Roger's Lake, and is just across the county line in Marlboro County, near the river. There is a survey on record here(Marlboro) naming the lake. The survey was for three different deeds given for 500 acres each, sold by Henry Clark (of Old Marion). The derivation refers to an 1736 land grant. The lake is off Arcadia (Plantation)road, which is a dirt road on the Dillon side of SC Hwy 34; Arcadia is paved on the Bennettsville side. Arcadia is marked with 911 signs. This lake is referred to in a plat certified 23 Oct 1736 for James Abercrombie. The 980 ac. tract is bordered by Joseph Yeats' land, Mr. Thomson's land and the Pedee (on the SW). There is a lady in Houston who is desperately trying to locate this land and I believe it is too far upriver for my expertise. The property is reported to be in Prince Frederick's parish. I have a suspicion that this property would be near the upper limits of Prince Frederick parish if not beyond near the Cheraws.
