The State (Columbia): Friday, August 17, 2001 Lounita Ward MARION (--) Services for Lounita Powers Ward, 73, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home with burial in Spring Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Spring Branch Cemetery Association, 213 Crepe Myrtle Dr., Marion, SC 29571, or American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. N, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. Mrs. Ward died Friday, August 17, 2001, in Marion County Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Horry Co., she was a daughter of the late James Legrand and Ethel Foxworth Powers. She retired from Marion National Bank with 21 years of service. She graduated from Marion High School and participated in the school's first State Basketball Championship. Mrs. Ward was a member of Spring Branch Southern Methodist Church and the Marion Music Club. Surviving are her husband, Herbert T. Ward Jr. of the home; sons, James Herbert (Jane) Ward of Mullins, Michael C. (Delores) Ward of Pawleys Island, Timothy W. Ward of Marion; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Ward (John) Bacot of Surfside Beach; sisters, Evadna P. Brown of Florence, Pearl P. Shepard of Darlington, Jimmie P. Thames of Marion; grandchildren, Melanie Ward (Stacy) Stanley, Leigh Ward (Chuck) Polk, Emmy Shaw, Lawson Ward, Mary Catherine Ward, Ward Bacot; great grandchild, Will Stanley.
