The State (Columbia): Monday, August 6, 2001 Mary McCollum MARION (--) Graveside services for Mary Frances Mayo McCollum, 84, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Rose Hill Cemetery conducted by the Reverend Sally Putnam and directed by Richardson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 307 S. Main St., Marion, SC 29571 or to the charity of the donor's choice. Mrs. McCollum died Saturday, August 4, 2001, at the Marion County Medical Center after a long-term and brave struggle with Alzheimer's. Born in Leaksville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Robert Ivanhoe Mayo and Fanny Mitchell Mayo. Mrs. McCollum attended Meredith College and Greensboro Women's College. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent and was very active in the Episcopal Church Women's organization and the Altar Guild. She was a founding member of the Book Club of Marion and the Garden Club as well as a member of the Marion County Historical Society. She was a Girl Scout Leader for a troop of 25 girls for eleven years. She was also secretary of her beloved church. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Robert Starling McCollum of the home; and her daughter, Julie Mayo McCollum of Virginia Beach, Va.
