The State (Columbia): Sunday, September 9, 2001 Hattie Bigger ROCK HILL -- Graveside services for Hattie Edwards Bigger, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. John Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Bass Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Upstate South Carolina Chapter, 114 E. Earle Street, Anderson, SC 29621-5602, or to the First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Harrison St., Dillon, SC 29536. Mrs. Bigger, widow of Sam P. Bigger Sr. who was a patrolman in Dillon, S.C., died September 7, 2001. A native of York County, she was a daughter of the late Matthew Thomas Edwards Sr. and Minnie Hunter Edwards. Mrs. Bigger resided in Dillon and Chester Counties for many years and returned to Rock Hill in 1998 as a resident of the Sterling House. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dillon. Surviving are her sons, Sam P. Bigger Jr. of Townville, Donald E. Bigger of Fort Mill; daughter, Lolly Bigger Mikell of Estill; brother, Robert Edwards of Waycross, Ga.; sister, Ruby Edwards Cornwell of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by sisters, Sue Edwards Davis, Alice Edwards Scoggins, Kathleen Edwards Nivens; brothers, Donald Ray Edwards, Matthew Thomas Edwards Jr., William D. Edwards.
