The State (Columbia): Wednesday, September 5, 2001 Bertha Baldwin BENNETTSVILLE (--) Services for Bertha Smith Baldwin, 83, will be held at 4 p.m. today at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Whitner-Evans Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs. Baldwin, widow of James J. Baldwin Jr., died Sunday. Born in Mullins, she was a daughter of the late Edward L. and Fleetwood Smith. She was a poet with a published book of poems and several awards. She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Surviving are sisters, Kathleen Holmes, Evelyn Phillips, Grace Withey, Frankie Flanders; stepson, James Baldwin III; many nieces and nephews.
