FLORENCE Cecil W. Watson Cecil Wilcox Watson, 77, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Brittons Neck, a son of the late Alec and Retha Watson. He graduated from Brittons Neck High School, where he played on the state championship basketball team. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence. He was retired from Independent Life Insurance Company. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Watson; two daughters, Cheryl Timmons and her husband, Tim, of Timmonsville, and Debbie Brown and her husband, Chris, of San Jose, Calif.; three sons, David Watson and his wife, Jennie, of Florence, and Bryan Watson and his wife, Helen, and Joel Watson and his wife, Nancy, both of Effingham; four sisters, Althea Johnson and her husband, James, and Blanche Dew and her husband, Thomas, both of Pamplico, Maude Goude and her husband, Harry, of Florence and Freda Courtney and her husband, Delano, of Timmonsville; seven grandchildren, Tripp Timmons and Christin Timmons, both of Timmonsville, Nell Arnold of Florence, Brittany Evans, D.J. Watson and Holly Watson, all of Effingham, and Patrick Brown of San Jose; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and dear friends. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at the chapel of Waters-Powell Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will be in Florence Memorial Gardens.
