BLYTHEWOOD | Mr. Jerry M. Phipps, 55, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital following an illness. Mr. Phipps was born in Mullins, South Carolina, September 5, 1953 to the late Mr. Millard Filmore Phipps and the late Mrs. Evon Harrelson Phipps. Mr. Phipps was a machinist with Harsco Track Technologies in West Columbia, and a member of Berea Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Helen G. Phipps of Blythewood; one brother, Harry Gene Phipps and wife, Louise, of Galivants Ferry; and sister, Brenda P. Long and husband, Bobby, of Galivants Ferry. Mr. Phipps was predeceased by his parents; and his son, Philip Gerald Phipps. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2009, in Berea Baptist Church Cemetery located at 4287 Joyner Swamp Road, Galivants Ferry, SC 29544. The Rev. Johnny Jenerette will officiate services. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until time of services Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Church Fellowship Hall.
