MARION - Mrs. Mary S. Branton, 80, died Friday, February 13, 2009, at Marion Nursing Center after an illness. She was born January 7, 1929, in Horry County, a daughter of the late Hope and Dessie Turner. Mrs. Branton had retired from AVM. She was a graduate of Floyds High School. Mrs. Branton was a member of Marion Church of God. Mrs. Branton was predeceased by her first husband, Pearley Shelley and her second husband, Lendward Branton. Surviving Mrs. Branton are 4 sons, Larry Shelley of Dillon, Harry Shelley and his wife Lila-Jo of Thomasville, N.C., Jimmy Shelley and his wife Gloria of Marion and Ricky Shelley and his wife Dianne of Dillon; 2 daughters, Debbie Smith of Columbia and Renee Rittenberry and her husband Jan of Gresham; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Eunice Blanton, Shirley Powell and Rachael Turner; and a brother, Otis Turner. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15 at the chapel of Smith-Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin Shifflett officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery.
