GLENVIEW, Ill. — Mrs. Constance Madelaine Foxworth Odum died May 25, 2009, at peace and at home. She was 86. Born and raised in Marion, S.C., Connie was a resident of Norfolk, Va., for over 50 years. She was an active charter member of St. John’s United Methodist Church from its inception in 1955 until 2006, serving on many committees and boards. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Lee Odum, her parents, LaVerne and Ella Foxworth, her sisters, Lura Dean Watson and Jean Sloan, her brother, Linwood Foxworth and her husband of 65 years, Captain Dwight Lee Odum. She is survived by her daughter, Alison Paige Odum Vernon, her son-in-law, Charles Vernon and 2 grandsons, Mark Lee and Gary Odum Vernon. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Smith-Collins Funeral Home in Marion, S.C. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Connie’s favorite charity: The Pam Sloan GHS Indigent Women’s Breast Cancer Fund, 4033 Highway 17 Bypass, Suite 111, P.O. Box 1269, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. As a 22-year breast cancer survivor, Constance recognized the importance of quality care for all.
