COLUMBIA — Funeral services for Esther Flo Catalano will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel with entombment in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Officiating the service will be Dr. John Whatley, Dr. Quinn Hooks and Cary Rowell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Catalano was born Oct. 2, 1925. in Loris and passed away Wednesday, June 17. She was a daughter of the late John Emory Stroud and Martha Jane Hewett Stroud. Mrs. Catalano grew up in Nichols and attended high school there. She was employed by Tapps Department Store for 16 years. Mrs. Catalano is survived by her son, Timothy F. Catalano of Columbia; sisters, Sally Hooks of Nichols, Inez Register of Lexington, Wilma Devaney of Fayetteville, N.C., and Nova Scotia, Doris Nance of Hartsville and Gloria Stroud Roushdi of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Frank J. Catalano; sister, Clara Harley; and brothers, Cecil and Delano Stroud.
