MARION — Darriel G. Kitchens, Jr. MD died Saturday June 13, 2009 at his home after a long illness. He was 87. Born in Metter, GA, he served in the 11th Armored Division during WW II and in the 7th (Bayonet Division) Infantry in the Korean War. After completing his medical training at Medical College of Georgia, he moved to Marion in 1957 where he practiced medicine until his retirement in 1993. He is survived by his 2 sons, Darriel & Mark, and by his sister Norma. Services will be held at Richardson Funeral Home, Tuesday June 30, 2009 at 2:00 PM. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Florence National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Disable Veterans Association, PO Box 96648, Washington, D.C. 20009-6648.
