MARION — Gregg Holt Caldwell, son of Gregg Holt Caldwell, Sr. and Lena Henderson Caldwell died June 5, 2009. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Florence, and former member of Marion Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, Treasurer, and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a graduate of the University of Florida Ranger School and retired as a Forester with International Paper. He was a member of Pee Dee Chapter, Society of American Foresters; American Legion Post #5, former president of Marion Civitan Club; and former member of Davis Landing River Club. He served in WWII as Master Sergeant in 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion, 28th Infantry. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Daphne Rowe Caldwell, son Greg Holt (Chip) Caldwell, Jr. (Paula), grandchildren Allison and Rebecca, sisters Dorothy C. Dark, Miriam Caldwell, Jean Caldwell, and Margaret Caldwell, all of Charlotte, NC. He was predeceased by sisters Caroline C. McKinney, Elizabeth C. Sheldon, and Sloan C. White. Mr. Caldwell was a resident of the Presbyterian Home in Florence. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the Presbyterian Community with visitation following in the Living Room on Sunday, June 7 at 5:00 PM.
