MARION — Donnie Legrand “Buck” Bryant Jr., 65, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, in Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the chapel of Smith-Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Long officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home. Don was born February 16, 1941, in Marion County, a son of the late D. Legrand and Carrie Richardson Bryant. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marion. Don will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for following his daddy, Mr. Legrand, around, whether it was on the farm, going to the store or during hunting season at Wahee Gun Club, where he was an honorary member. Surviving Don are a sister, Sylvia B. Rodes of Marion; three nephews, Michael Legrand Rodes and his wife, Phyllis, of Marion, Ken Rodes and his wife, Kim, and their family of Mooresville, N.C., and Greg Rodes and his wife, Angela, and their family of Columbia; a niece, Kyah Rodes of Columbia; two great nephews, Russell Legrand Rodes and his wife, Tammy, of Marion and Bradley Carson Rodes of Charleston and his fiancee, Jessica Lambert; a great-great nephew, Carter Legrand Rodes. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Marion, 307 Godbold St., Marion, SC 29571.
