MARION — Luther Victor Porter Jr., 69, lovingly called “Fuzzy” by his family and friends, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006, in McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness. Graveside services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, October 7, in Devotion Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Craig Alford officiating. The services will be directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home. Mr. Porter was born August 21, 1937, in Dillon County, a son of the late Luther V. Porter Sr. and the late Mary Jackson Porter. He was a retired pipefitter. Mr. Porter was a Mason, a Shriner and had attained Scottish Rites. He had served in the S.C. National Guard. Surviving Mr. Porter are his children, Vicki Porter of Rock Hill, Mary Hayes of Lumberton, N.C., Ron Porter of Montross, Va., and John (Marcel) Porter of Marion; his grandchildren, Ron (Lori) Brown of Mullins, Corey (Jennifer) Brown of Mullins, Ashleigh Porter of Montross, Va., Kyleigh Porter of Montross, Va., Kelly (Kim) Hayes of St. Paul, N.C., Matt Porter of Marion, Tanisha “Shy” Seals of Lumberton, N.C., and Megan Moon and her fiance, Josh Barr of Florence; his great-grandchildren, Casey Brown of Mullins, Haleigh Brown of Mullins and Austin Hayes of St. Paul, N.C., and his sisters and brothers, Mildred (Johnny) Gowdy of Sumter, Mary (Lonnie) Cox of Sumter, Murel (Donnie) Pridgen of Sumter, Murlene (Ansel) Caulder of Marion, Elliott (Faye) Porter of Marion and Hubert (Kay) Porter of Marion. Mr. Porter was predeceased by four brothers, Haywood Porter, Horace Porter, Norman Porter and Lynwood Porter. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, 1203 E.
