MYRTLE BEACH | Louise Dorsey Strickland, 93, wife of the late Allard D. Strickland, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Conway Medical Center. Mrs. Strickland was born in Horry County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Joe Mann Dorsey and Hattie Booth Dorsey. She was a graduate of Loris High School. Mrs. Strickland was a graduate of Winthrop University in 1937. She taught in public schools for Marion and Horry County. Mrs. Strickland left public schools to help with the family business, Bayboro Clover Farm & New Farmers Warehouse. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 106 of Loris; a member of Myrtle Beach Senior Citizens Center; and was an avid Bridge and Canasca player. She was also a member of the Conway Medical Center Foundation and the Legacy Society. Mrs. Strickland was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas Dorsey, Mike Dorsey and John Dorsey; and two sisters, Miriam Dorsey and Genewood Dorsey. Surviving are four sisters, Elizabeth Currence of Conway, Kathleen Thomas of Chantilly, Va., Angeline Johnson of Loris and Wilma Craig of Marion; one brother, Harold C. Dorsey and wife, Joyce, of Loris; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Zoan United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the funeral home.
