MARION/GARDEN CITY — Ernest Jackson Jack Rimer, 82, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Hospice of Charleston after an illness. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM on Friday, May 29 at the Marion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 pm at Marion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery directed by Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Rimer was born in Salisbury, NC, a son of the late Ernest James and Esther Rimer. He is also predeceased by a sister, Helen Hillard. Mr. Rimer was a graduate of Boyden High School in Salisbury. He was veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was retired from Dupont, and was a member of Marion Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Alta A. Rimer of the home; sons, Steve Rimer and his wife, Diane of Mullins, SC, Joe Rimer and his wife, Tara of Coward, SC; daughter, Jean Richardson and her husband, Hank, of Marion, SC; brothers, Bill Rimer of Florence, SC and Karl Rimer of Burbank, CA; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
