MULLINS — Mrs. Sallie Jean McMillan Spears, 80, widow of James Harold Spears, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence after an illness. She was born July 1, 1928 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Ralph F. McMillan, Sr. and the late Bessie Collins McMillan. Mrs. Spears retired as manager from Eagles Dime Store and Super 10. She was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. Spears are: a Daughter: Nancy Best and her husband Darrell of Mullins; a Grandson: Jamie Best of Mullins; and a Brother: Ralph F. McMillan, Jr. of Mullins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 9 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
