I am looking for family members of Gilford (sometimes spelled Gilfred) Bass, b. 1859 - in Robeson, NC, I think. I found 2 census records that say NC and one that says SC. he died 24 Dec 1935 in the Lake View area of SC. he is buried in Hayestown cemetery there with some other family members. his is a complicated family due to multiple marriages and I am trying to sort everyone out. Gilford first married Mary Frances (mnu)and they had several children together. prior to marrying Gilford, Mary had married twice. her first marriage to Kenneth Harrell produced one child, Zylphia Ella Harrell (my ggrandmother.) Mary's 2nd marriage to an unknown Stephens produced one child, Archie Stephens. Arch Stephens was raised by Gilford Bass, so sometimes he is called Arch Bass. When Mary Frances died in 1907, Gilford married Kate Anderson. she died in childbirth or soon after - their newborn daughter, Nellie Kate was adopted by Arch Stephens & his wife. Gilford's third marriage was to Delia Elvington and they also had a couple of children. If anyone has information on ANY members of these families, I would love to hear from you.
