He was born August 26, 1946 in Marion County, a son of Ruby Byrd Brown and the late Sandy Lamar Brown. Johnny was a retired gas truck driver, having driven for Mr. Leamon Shelley with Tri-County Oil Company and Mr. Gene Carmichael with Coastal Oil Company. He was a US Army veteran, having served in the Viet Nam War. He was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church. Surviving Johnny in addition to his Wife of the home are: his Mother: Ruby Byrd Brown of Marion; a Son: John Michael Brown and his wife Christy of Dunn, N.C.; 2 Daughters: Diana Akers of Zebulon, N.C. and Donna Locklear and her husband Carl of Latta; 2 Grandsons; 2 Granddaughters; a Sister: Betty Hayes and her husband Gene of Dillon; and a Brother: Pete Brown and his wife Terri of Mullins.     2. LATTA — Mr. Charles Edgar Haselden, 91, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Haselden was born in Sellers on Feb. 15, 1918, a son of the late Charles E. Haselden Sr. and Minnie Dusenberry Haselden and was married to his wife, Mrs. Imogene A. Haselden for 70 years. He was retired from Marion Lumber Co. and was a member of Latta United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Imogene A. Haselden; son, Charles E.     2. MARION — Anthony Watson, age 78, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Mr. Watson was born June 21, 1930, in Marion county, son of William Clarence and Ila Mae Duncan Watson. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13 at Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends just prior to the service from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. He was a 1949 graduate of Latta High School and attended Clemson College. He served in the US Air Force for 14 years. He farmed in Marion County for several years and retired from Beneteau. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. He enjoyed cooking and good food. He had a special interest in gardening and collecting rare and unusual plants. For several years he and his wife belonged to a square dance club and they have maintained many friends from this group. His good-natured disposition and wonderful sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elvenia Keturah Phillips Watson; daughters, Valerie Jo (Cliff) Tyner and Danelle Renee Watson; granddaughter Summer Lynn Roberts; great-grandson Scott Anthony Roberts; all of Marion; brothers William C. Watson, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, and Zack S. (Peggy) Watson of Marion; sister, Katie W. Macon of Marion; sister-in-law Dottie Goodale and her husband, Bobby, of Johns Island, SC; and several nieces and nephews.     2. LORIS | Ottis Wayne Williams, 63, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Loris Community Hospital following an illness. Mr. Williams was born August 22, 1945 in Mullins, South Carolina, a son of the late Herbert Ottis Williams and the late Estalene Alford Williams. He retired from Pepsi Cola after working 19 years as a route salesman and truck driver, and was founder and co-owner of Williams Ditching and Clearing. Mr. Williams spent most of his life as an active member of Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church, and was currently a member and trustee of Lake Swamp Baptist Church. He was a kind hearted man, a loving father, and a devoted grandfather. Mr. Williams was a wonderful neighbor, and was always willing to help people. He enjoyed fishing, Bluegrass music, and playing the bass guitar. Survivors include one son, Kevin W. Williams and his wife, Cynthia, of Conway; one daughter, Hope Lyerly of Johnsonville; one brother, Tommy Lynn Williams and his wife, Beverly, of Kinston, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Daniel Wayne Williams and Aaron James Williams, both of Conway, and Brandon Lyerly of Johnsonville. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 from the Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Ghent and the Rev. Rocky Gregory officiating.     2. SUMMERVILLE - Mr. Edwin Alton Caulder entered into eternal rest the evening of Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Mr. Caulder is survived by his wife of almost 35 years Ramona Jean Roudebush Caulder. Mr. Caulder was born January 8, 1935 in Latta, SC and was a graduate of Mullins H.S. He was one of three children of the late Eddie C. and Lizzie Turner Caulder. He was a devout member of Summerville Baptist Church in Summerville, SC and the Army National Guard for which he served 23 years. Mr. Caulder was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Caulder Roumillat. He is also survived by his brother Jack Glenn Caulder of Isle of Palms, SC, his children, Alyce Ann Caulder Lord of Cocoa, FL, Timothy Alton Caulder of Moncks Corner, SC and Laura Angelic Caulder Blewer of Summerville, SC, grandchildren Randall Scott Blewer Jr., Nicholas Alan Blewer, Dylan Alexander Blewer and Marissa Ariehana Blewer whom he cherished. He also had a special place in his heart for sons-in-law Robert C. She was currently employed for twenty-six years at Lexington County Mental Health, devoting her life to caring for others. She was a member of Leesvilles United Methodist Church. Perhaps more than anything else, Becky was known for her overwhelming love of her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. She will be deeply missed.     2. MULLINS — Mr. Mitchell Marion Harrelson, 84, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness. He was born April 30, 1924 in Marion County, a son of the late Sam Clyde Harrelson and the late Minnie Mae Frye Harrelson. Mr. Harrelson was an owner and operator of Harrelson Body Shop for over 50 years. He was also former owner of Mullins Ambulance Service and a member of the Mullins Rescue Squad. Mr. Harrelson was a US Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 6122, where he had served as chaplain and a member of American Legion Post 89. Mr. Harrelson was an active member of Gapway Baptist Church, where he was Deacon Emeritus and had served as treasurer, a Sunday School teacher and a member of the church choir. Mr. Harrelson was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Martha Martin Harrelson. Surviving Mr. Harrelson are: a Son: Robert M. Harrelson of Mullins; 3 Daughters: Barbara (Pat) Baker of Mullins, Nancy (Evans) Collins of Mullins and Teresa (Mike) Crowley of Myrtle Beach; his Grandchildren: Summer, Jeanna, Carmen, Mitch, Matthew and Amelia; his Great Grandchildren: Zachary, Ian, Mallory, Collins and Patrick; 2 Brothers: Norman Harrelson and Mack Harrelson, both of Mullins; and 2 Sisters: Doris Ann McMillan and Evelyn Smith, both of Mullins. Mr. Harrelson was also predeceased by 4 brothers, Sam, Charles, Colon and Frank and a sister, Dottie Jean Jordan. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, April 30 in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, with the Rev. Chip Scruggs and the Rev. Steve Bailey officiating. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. She was born July 28, 1963 in Marion County, a daughter of the late William Lee Wimpy Miller and the late Lois Donzell Cooper Miller. Debbie was a homemaker and a loving daughter, mother and sister. She was a member of Praise Temple Church. Surviving Debbie are: a Brother: Randy Lee Miller of Fork; a Son: Charles Harris Strickland, III of Mullins; her Husband: Jake McCain Baker of Fork; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Debbie was predeceased by a daughter, Brittany Anne King. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 29 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, with the Rev. Eddie Baker officiating.     2. BELLEVIEW, Fla., - Mrs. Cassie T. Nichols, 89, of Belleview, FL, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Arbor Village in Wildwood. Mrs. Nichols was born in Swansea, SC. She moved to Marion County with her husband, John Willard Nichols, and spent most of her adult life in Marion County. She was a homemaker, and had also worked as a childcare provider in several places locally. Mrs. Nichols was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Belleview. She is survived by her sons James “JW” Nichols, and Ralph Nichols and his wife, Sharon, sister, Pansy Gunter Powell, Florence, SC, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews in the Columbia, SC, area. Mrs. Truluck was born in Timmonsville, SC, to James and Maggie Gibson and spent many years working in Florence, SC, before moving to Mullins with her husband to operate a business until they retired. She was a long time member of the Mullins First Baptist Church, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Samuel Bacot Chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Livingston Truluck of Mullins, SC Mrs. Truluck is survived by a daughter, Dr. Janet Elizabeth Truluck of Athens, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Livingston Truluck, Jr. and Debbie Beale Truluck of Columbia, SC; sisters, Mrs. Jacqueline Thigpen and Mrs. Hope Paschal, both of Florence, and Mrs. Sue Nell Godwin of Charleston, SC.
