I received an email today in reference to SC, Marion L (Rogers) It was sent by Helen Lane Carmichael. I think someone is using email account to send out viruses! The email I received said the information was in the attachment. I decided to play it safe and save it to a disc. Virus detector found it immediately and said it CANNOT be fixed. PLEASE be careful if someone sends you an attachment. Jane

We've had two cemetery surveys contributed to the Tombstone Project for Georgetown County which may be of interest. In processing one of them, Mt. Olive Cemetery, I noticed a large number of HARRELSONs, some SHACKELFORDs and others. To access the index page for Georgetown go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/southcarolina/georgetown.html Speaking of Georgetown, have y'all seen what new coordinator, Debbie Young, has added to the site? Among other things, the 1840 federal census for Georgetown! Stop by and say hello at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~scgeorge/ Cheers, Victoria

Helen and All, Not to worry. I get email from everyone :) and NEITHER Peggy nor Helen, excuse me, I should say neither Peggy's nor Helen's email software, sent me anything. ONCE I POSTED and before I was able to track down poor Mr. Forsythe's email address, I did receive something from his computer but that's all. I've unsubbed the gentleman and there should be no further problems unless someone else on the list gets hit with this thing. If it happens, we'll all be patient, yes, and work on getting rid of whatever comes our way. We've been exceptionally fortunate so far; so many lists have encountered these problems but this is a first for us. PLEASE DON'T FEEL BAD if you are affected. Just unsub, if you can, go get rid of this pesky ole thing, and resub soon as you can. Please don't fret. If I can help, just holler. I'm pleased to say that my anti-virus update caught the messages that came my way so I repeat: update your software and carry on. The only alternative is to shut off your computer and never "speak" to another living soul ever. As Chief George once said, "Endeavor to persevere". <g> We love you all, so if something bad comes your way, please know that "stuff" happens. Let me know if you encounter any problems and we'll work on it. There's no one on this list who would ever, EVER deliberately send you a bug, not ONE that I know of, so please start with that assumption and don't fret. Information is the only way we can eliminate these bozos. Cheers, Victoria

There's a really nasty v*rus going around called badTrans. It would appear that Mr. Forsythe has been hit by it, as have so many poor souls. So far as I know, it does not damage your hard drive or delete any files but it will take every unread email in your In Box and send out a reply without your knowing about it. What makes this one "nasty" is that people who receive these bogus replies also receive the attachment which propagates the v*rus and the attachment, of course, appears to come from a trusted source. NEVER open an attachment, or even an email with an attachment unless you're expecting an email from the sender AND your anti-virus software has the latest updates. (Yeah, yeah, I know but I had to say it.) To read more about this one and how to remove it, see: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/pf/w32.badtrans.13312@mm.html HOW I CAN HELP: If you notify me of the "sender's" email address, I can check the subscription list and temporarily remove the poor soul from the list until they get the virus cleaned off their machine. This will reduce any bogus "replies" to messages posted to the list and save the poor soul's hard drive from getting filled up with these goofy replies. I did check for the email address you posted, Peggy, but that one's not subscribed. :( PLEASE NOTE: It is NOT the email sent to this list which contains the attachment. All attachments are prevented from being posted just for this reason. Hang in there everyone. Cheers, Victoria

If you have received a attachment from my email address, forwarded to me from a Gerald E. Forsythe do not open it. I do not even know this person, but he is sending out attachments in bad taste to some folks. I understand that I received it because it was sent to others and it was forwarded to many. This is the first time this has ever happened to me and I wanted to notify all on my address list. Helen

Phil, Thank you so much. This is all very exciting. I wonder if anyone on the list has anything further on those children of John H. and A. Price. I am so pleased to be able to add John W., Nichols M., and William C. to the list of possible children. Is Joe Hughes someone who is living now? In the 1810 Marion Co., Census, there are 3 Cameron's listed. 1. Lavender Cameron (my illusive ancestor) 2. Mary Cameron and 3. Dempsy Cameron. I have been unable to find out anything yet on Lavender, but would anyone on the list know anything about Mary or Dempsy. On the Mary Cameron, the only people she has listed living in the house are 2 females of 45 and upwards, of which she is one. I am hoping that these 3 are related somehow. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lorna
