    1. [SCMARION-L] From James Jenkins' book
    2. List, I will attempt to copy from Jenkins' book the names of persons and places, hoping that this will help others as they search. According to Jenkins, at the end of the 1700's, church congregations met often in private homes as there were few church buildings in which to meet. Sincerely and Happy FOURTH OF JULY, Sandra R. Pound >From Page 57-58 "Our presiding elder, Reuben Ellis, visited us only twice this year, so extensive was his district. Our last quarterly meeting, which closed our labours for the year, was held at Moor's meeting-house, where we had the servies of brother Bonner from Georgia. [skip] On my way to conference I fell in with brothers Lipsey and Gibson, just such friends as my soul delighted in. "1793. Conference was held at Charleston, the first of the year; indeed, it commenced the 24th of Dec., '92. It was a source of joy to me to see the preachers. Peace and harmony reigned throughout all our proceedings; and we felt our spiritual strength greatly renewed. At this conference, Samuel Richer and James Douthet were admitted on trial. I was sent to the Oconee circuit, in Georgia; left still in company with the friends of my choice, Lipsey and Gibson."
