I have been told there are unmarked graves in this cemetary, which I find very reasonable, and some are being attended to (Luke Price relatives). If anyone has info on others , it would be nice to share this before the info is lost forever . I know because I have been unable to find my grandfather's grave in NC. I presume because it's unmarked. We are our roots and are roots for those to follow. Let us know ourselves!

I descend from Samuel through his daughter, Cyrene who married Benjamin Munnerlyn. Cyrene's mother was Katherine (Katy) Floyd, however, I have not found the proof of the marriage of Samuel Garrell and Katherine Floyd. Thank you, my dear, for your offer. Hope you are having a good summer. Francine Jones

Lisa, I have just broken down a twenty year old brick wall that led me back to a Rev. Richard Welch who lived in the Hebron Section of Marlboro, was a minister of the Meth. Church, and was married to an Annie Smith who was born in 1811, and had a brother named Peter. That is the extent of the knowledge I have on this Smith family. I thought to myself, well, finding her parents will probably be like looking for the proverbial 'needle in a haystack'. With the Hebron section of Marlboro so close to the old Marion Co. line, and so many of my family members moving back and forth, this might be one of the many doing the crossing. You mentioned there has been a lot here about a Meth. minister named Moses Smith. Well, I know absolutely nothing about him. Can you give me a clue as to whether he had a daughter and son named Annie and Peter? I am reading the journal of the itinerant minister, Charles Woodmason, who wrote " The Carolina Backcountry On The Eve of the Rev. War." He was all over the place, and his travels , I am told, were written up very candidly. Thanks. Joanne Harley New Bern,NC

Jane, There is a lot of information on the Barfields available on the GAMACON-L@rootsweb.com You might write to Davine Campbell there-she has been most helpful to me in my search of BRIDGES who migrated from SC to Macon Co.,GA.-I am speaking of Macon Co., not Macon, GA. Hope this helps. Mildred
This is just a trivia tidbit but thought that it might mean something to those of us who are descended from both Moses and Hannah Smith, and from William and Mourning Van Pelt Lewis. Rev. Moses Smith has been discussed here numerous times at length, along with the fact that he was ordained as a Minister of the Methodist Church by Bishop Francis Asbury. In researching the Van Pelt family I came across another connection to the early days of the Methodist Church in the United States. Mourning Van Pelt was from North Carolina, but her ancestors were among the first settlers of Staten Island, then called New Utrecht in New York State. They came to New Utrecht from an area in Europe between Belgium and Holland. At any rate, when Bishop Asbury came to the United States in the 1700's the first sermon he preached in this country was at the house of Peter Van Pelt, grandson of Tunis Van Pelt and cousin to Mourning Van Pelt. (Tunis was the first ancestor of Mourning Van Pelt to arrive in the New World.) At any rate, thought I'd contribute this trivia item... Is anyone else here researching Mourning Van Pelt? The Van Pelt's were a fascinating family. I'll be happy to share the info I've collected, and that my grandmother put together if anyone is interested.... --Lisa
the Barfield family in Dillon County is today represented only by the descendants of WritBarfield and three of his sisters who married into the Goodyear and Rogers families. Does anyone have a history of the Barfields? Celia Barfield Rogers was my great great grandmother. I don't have much information on the Barfields or on Celia. Anyone that can help, it would be greatly appreciated :-) Thanks Jane------Femail85@aol.com
