    1. [SCMARION-L] McKenzie family tree per WW Sellers
    2. PHIL PRICE
    3. I have outlined the McKenzie family tree from what W. W. Sellers wrote in his book "A History of Marion County South Carolina" from pages 236,237,238. Sellers doesn't give a lot of dates and may have left out a lot of other McKenzie's he didn't know. I was wondering if there are some McKenzie decentants out there that might be able to fill in some dates, details, and some missing family members? The McKenzie family tree per W. W. Sellers: 1. Bobby McKenzie 2. Asa McKenzie 2. Dilla McKenzie m Owen Jackson 3. Ervin M. Jackson m Sara Ann McKenzie 3. Elizabeth Jackson (never married) 3. daughter 2 m Wm. T. Jackson 3. daughter 3 m Hugh P. 2. Friends, I am cognizant of the fact that I may be breaking a breach of Rootsweb etiquette by advertising, but I am as excited as a five-year-old on a Christmas fieldtrip to see Santa Claus. The Wade Hampton Richardson of Britton's Neck book is in! This is what my best/worst critic, my husband, says, "You did a remarkable job!  I am so proud of you (were already...even more proud now!)!  This will be a treasure for many folks for years to come...way beyond any whose names are mentioned in the book.  Such a unique genealogy...over 260 photos, transcripts of taped conversations with relatives, interesting side stories...and on and on...I am having trouble putting it down.  I love you.  Terry" The red with gold lettering on cover and spine, hardback book is a culmination of twenty-five or so years' work. If anyone is interested, email me personally. Yours, Sandra R. Pound

    1. [SCMARION-L] Fw: Important Virus Alert
    2. Linda Hull
    3. I received this notice from a friend. Hope this helps! I haven't verified this information. Linda Hull ----- Original Message ----- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IMPORTANT VIRUS ALERT! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I received this from McAfee several days ago and again from Vanguard Magazine... Phyllis During the last few days we have received dozens of e-mails with a virus attached. Every time I check my mail, there are several of these waiting to be opened. And many of these are from our members. I received this message from McAfee Virus Scan On-line and thought I would pass it along to the membership. McAfee has seen a large and growing number of consumer computers infected with W32/SirCam@MM. This is a HIGH RISK VIRUS. The infected e-mail originates from addresses that you recognize. The file name itself varies; however, the e-mail message is always the same. It appears with one of the following texts: Hi! How are you? I send you this file in order to have your advice OR I hope you can help me with this file that I send OR I hope you like the file that I sendo you OR This is the file with the information that you ask for See you later. Thanks --- the same message may be received in Spanish --- Hola como estas ? Te mando este archivo para que me des tu punto de vista OR Espero me puedas ayudar con el archivo que te mando OR Espero te guste este archivo que te mando OR Este es el archivo con la información que me pediste Nos vemos pronto, gracias. The virus searches for .GIF, .JPG, .JPEG, .MPEG, .MOV, .MPG, .PDF, .PNG, .PS, .AIV, and .ZIP files in the MY DOCUMENTS folder and attempts to send copies of these documents to e-mail recipients found in the Windows Address Book and addresses found in cached files. In virtually all cases, the worm infects the document it removed from "My Documents" and e-mails the file as an attachment with a double extension such as "file.doc.exe." If the recipient clicks on the file, SirCam infects their computer. The names of the attached files I received always contained two periods (..); for example, the attached file may be "PersonalFinances.doc.bat" or "FinalLetterToRoy.doc.exe". Hence, look at every attached file you receive -- it will be from someone who has your address -- and do not open it if you see two periods. (Note: I just received a report from someone who stated that they had received a nude movie as an attachment from a Christian that they knew. The SirCam Virus will embarass its victims if they have anything to hide.) IT GETS WORSE: Besides e-mailing a randomly selected document from the "My Documents" folder to every e-mail address stored on an infected computer's system folder, SirCam also plays an odd little game of chance with an infected computer. When activated, the virus randomly chooses whether to take over all the unused space on a hard drive by filling it with text, or it may DELETE THE CONTENTS The contents of the hard drive. My e-mail in-boxes, consisting of five different addresses, continue to fill up with an odd assortment of our readers' personal documents and images sent without their permission, compliments of the worm-virus dubbed "SirCam." In fact, I'm receiving several different documents from the same member because SirCam starts up every time you open an executable file, as AOL, Word, etc. THIS VIRUS IS SERIOUS. For detection and removal instructions for the Sir Cam Virus, or to add an umbrella of protection over your computer if you do not already have McAfee Virus Scan Online, point your browser to: http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=e5EA/jVje2c& offerid=13772.10000076&type=4&subid=0 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE FORWARD THIS VIRUS ALERT! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    2. Toni Allen
    3. Mildred, I agree with Doris and Linda. It was a beautiful letter, and thank you for sharing it with us. When I read it, I thought that it could have been written by anyone on either side of that terrible war. Being born and raised in Michigan, there is a lot about that war that I wasn't aware of, and I've learned a lot about, mainly from researching my family. I may be a yankee, by birth, but my mother was born in Virgina, with her family in the same area since before the Rev. War, and my father was born in Florida, and his father was born in Marlboro Co., S. C. I just consider myself a misplaced Southerner. And lucky because I've "met" a lot of very nice people and "cousins" via the web, most of whom are Southerners. I'm so glad you posted that letter. Toni McLeod Allen in Michigan

    1. [SCMARION-L] Re: Re: Surname GALE / GALES
    2. Jo & Cathy - I just checked my 1850 census index CD and there is a Samuel Gale listed in Jefferson Co., FL, pg. 6. Didn't find any Gale listed in Marion Co., FL. Also checked my Animap program & there is a town of Marion listed in Hamilton Co., FL which is one county east of Jefferson, but no Marion in Jefferson Co. I, like Jo, thought perhaps Jefferson & Hamilton counties covered the same area in 1850, but not according to Animap. Jefferson was taken from Leon & Hamilton from Duval, both in 1827. I think it's most probable that Marion, Florida was written by the clerk instead of Marion, SC like Jo said. Hope this helps. Betty

I apologize for the sarcasm and rude comments that some on this list made to you. Frankly, this letter reminds me that this is how it felt to fight a war, never mind which side. I too had relatives who fought for the Confederate side, and some I'm sure who fought for the Union side. War isn't pretty for anyone. Thanks for this bit of history. Guess what, I know this is the Marion Co. List, and I'm still glad I read Sullivan's letter! > > Linda Hull > http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/1786/marion.html >
