Jane, >From the information I have, Rogers and Edwards married on several occasions. Going backwards, my Grandmother (Gladys Marie Edwards & Edward Gibson Caldwell, m. Aug. 9, 1917) had three sisters that married Rogers. They were Cherry Mills Edwards & J. A. Rogers, m June 6, 1906; Sally Kitt Edwards & William Sydney Rogers, m. Aug. 21, 1915; Carrie Fern Edwards & Archie Boyd Rogers Sr., m.June 1, 1912. Also, going back several more generations, my GGGGrandfather, Rev. Davis S. Edwards married Martha Rogers. This is from information my uncle put together. I have not done any research to speak of on the Rogers name as I am trying to get past my GGGrandparents on the Caldwell side and have been unsuccessful at this time. Hope this helps. Tanya

Mary, The web address for the SC Caroliniana Library is: http://www.sc.edu/library/socar/ Sandra
Thanks Sandra I will try that. Mary
Mary, If you could locate the newspaper for that year, you probably would like a worship service schedule of churches with the pastor who was to speak. Sandra
Elona, I have enjoyed many hours at the University of SC's Caroliniana Library researching THE MARION STAR. You may check their web site for hours they are open. Sandra
Mary: You have to go through your local public library. Have them order it for you, then it will be sent to your library and you view it there. Back when I did it you got to keep it for 3 weeks which gave me plenty of time to get through it all. Francine
For those who find it difficult to get to a Family History Center or the Marion Library, I was successful in borrowing the microfilm of the Marion Star through interlibrary loan from the South Carolininia Library in Columbia. Cost me the cost of the postage. That was years ago but feel certain you can still borrow it this way. I was looking for any info on my Marion County families of Munnerlyn, Eagerton, Phillips, Collins and a few others and to my surprise I found the obituary of my 3'rd great-grandfather, John Haile, who lived in Union County, SC. The Newspaper date was June 29, 1816. If I remember correctly there are a lot of years missing. But covers some of the years from early 1800's to after the Civil War, I believe. Real fun reading! Francine
They have microfilm of the old The Marion Star newspapers at the library in Marion, SC. I am sorry I do not know how far back they have them.
I don't know the answer to your question, but would like to know how to access old issues of the Marion Star. How far back does it go? Thanks. Elona ----- Original Message ----- From: <A321Mary@aol.com> To: <SCMARION-L@rootsweb.com> > Does anyone know at what church Mr. Rogers was the pastor?
In the October 29, 1902 issue of The Marion Star I found the following: MARRIED At 4 p. m. Wednesday Oct. 22, at the home of the bride's father, Mr. Chas. Altman, Mr. J. L. Coleman to Miss Hattie Altman. Rev. A. T. Rogers officiating. The Star wishes for them a happy voyage through life. Does anyone know at what church Mr. Rogers was the pastor?
